A semi-autobiographical story of the adventure of two front-line friends who are looking for creative expression and personal happiness. According to the plot of the film, Tarapunka met Halia during the war. However, due to his shyness, the young man was never able to get along with the girl. The war ended, Tarapunka works in Kyiv as a traffic controller, and his friend Shtepsel works as a technical worker in the theater. It is there that Halia and her roommate come to perform. So the heroes' paths cross again. Tarapunka wants to confess his love to Halia, but now a series of funny coincidences is preventing him. Then Shtepsel undertakes to arrange a friend's wedding.
